Where the heck did time go this year? This year has gone by incredibly fast for me. It seems like just yesterday that I was taking Atwood into his Kindergarten class and he was crying because he didn't want me to leave. What a difference a year will make! My kids had so much fun in school this year. They did learn quite a bit too! They all had the greatest teachers ever.
Here is Atwood and Ms. Smith. Atwood had a hard first week or so, but you would never know it! At Mother's Day tea, he said to me "Mom, I kind of have like two moms here". I asked him what he meant and he said "I have you, but I also have Ms. Smith. She's kind of like my second mom because I see her every day". He really liked her. Yesterday he said "Mom, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that school is out tomorrow for summer and the bad news is that I don't get to see Ms. Smith every day now". Can this kid get any more adorable? Oops, sorry, I mean cool and studly!
Megan had a teacher that was the PERFECT teacher for her. Mrs. Hutcheson said the one thing she will always remember about Megan is that in the 3rd week of school Megan said to her "Mrs. Hutcheson, I want to be a teacher just like you when I grow up because when you are a teacher, you can pretty much do whatever you want". I had to laugh because that sounds like something Megan would say. Megan does want to be just like Mrs. Hutcheson and have her own classroom. Mrs. Hutchseon always encouraged Megan and Megan was presented with an award from her teacher that was for always going above and beyond. Way to go girl!!!
I know I sound totally repetitive, but Dilan's teacher was fantastic. After cirriculum night in the fall, I kept thinking that his teacher looked so familiar. There was a good reason for that...we went to high school together and she graduated a year behind me. She started the year as Miss Fernandez, but finished as Mrs. Kuraspediani. Dilan had an incredible year with her and she always knew what to do to push Dilan a little more with his work. He LOVES math and it comes very natural for him (maybe that is because Aaron was on math team and it's in the genes...who knows). He does not love writing as much, but Mrs. K always pushed him to do better. Dilan is SUPER excited for next year because he was chosen to be a part of the leadership team for his school. He and a few other 5th graders were nominated by their teacher to be a part of this and he couldn't be more excited. (I can't believe my once little baby Dilan is now going into 5th grade...where does the time go?)
We absolutely love the elementary school our kids go to and are so thankful they all had awesome teachers this past year. It's always a little bittersweet to end the year because they do get so attached to their teachers throughout the year. I am sure when fall comes around, they will all be excited and will then get attached to some other amazing teachers too.
